About Gary Bond
Gary Bond has been a lifelong lover of the outdoors.
In 2008 he turned that love into a quest. Adopting the trail name 'Rethinker,' Gary fulfilled a dream of thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. The five-month wilderness journey gave time to experience and appreciate Nature's beauty and diversity in a stunning way.
Always wanting to be a painter, but sadly lacking in the talent, Gary discovered the camera lens as his brush and Nature's Great Outdoors as his palette. Living in Western North Carolina in the shadows of the Great Smoky Mountains offers wonderful opportunities to capture the area's beauty and share it in images.
While many outdoor photographers seek to capture the'grand landscapes,' Gary enjoys seeking the grand 'mini-landscapes' of streams and seeps, woodland trails and flora, and capturing those as well. In addition to photography, Gary Bond has authored several books, including: 'Rethinking Life on the Appalachian Trail.'
